Dusted - Total Dust
Brian Borcherdt of Toronto's Holy Fuck, has started a new project called Dusted. The album, released on July 10th, is a left turn from the stuff that Holy Fuck has created. The result is an airy, raw, stripped down, rock album that lends itself to laid back rock music lovers. The first single released was called (Into The) Atmosphere, which is below for your streaming pleasure. Also, the whole album Total Dust, is available for streaming on their CBC Music Page and their Bandcamp Page.
Check out a couple album teasers as well:

Japandroids

Japandroids is a Canadian rock duo from Vancouver, British Columbia. To be honest, I really didn't like their sound at first. It was a bit too punk sounding for me but as I continue listening to them, they are growing on me. Also, since they are hitting the indie scene by storm, I thought some of our readers might enjoy them. Check out a single from their new album "Celebration Rock" called "The House That Heaven Built" here:

The creation of Scrappy Happiness has now matured like a fine wine as the 10th and final track of the album has been released. The new song is called Lightning Bolt and it features driving electric guitars and is the 'rock' song of the album. Clocking in at over 6 minutes it is sure to please your ears.

The past 10 weeks has given listeners a peek into the world of Joel Plaskett and the process through which this album was made. He has created a record that is well rounded and listenable. There hasn't been a track on the album that I find myself skipping.

Plants and Animals - The End of That
Indie-rockers Plants and Animals are planning to release their third studio album entitled The End of That on February 28th, 2012. Their first LP, Parc Avenue, quickly caught the ears of listeners across the country including Spencer and I. The album was shortlisted for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize and was nominated for a 2009 Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year... Not bad credentials if you ask me.

Jon Mckiel - Tonka War Cloud
Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia Jon Mckiel's brand of folk-rock is in my opinion refreshing. Every time a new song comes on from his album I don't know what to expect... the guitars have a heavy sound but the songs maintain catchy melodies. He recently released a new album entitled Tonka War Cloud which features 10 songs. Jon has toured across Canada several times and will no doubt be touring again sometime in the near future.
I suggest you head over to his Bandcamp Page and stream the new album in it's entirety. Some of my favorites are: Ice Man, Confidence Lodge and several others.
Posted below is the first track off the album, Strands. Jon McKiel - Strands

The Black Keys - Q with Jian Ghomeshi
Today The Black Keys were on Q with Jian Ghomeshi on CBC Radio 1. The Ohio duo is set to release El Camino in the coming days and Jian had a chance to sit down with Dan and Patrick. You can head over to the Q Website and listen to the stream at your leisure.
Also, check out The Keys on the topic of Selling Out below.
I will leave you with this great quote from Patrick Carney on the topic of selling their tracks for use on commercials and the like.
"Where else are they gonna hear it? Would you rather be surrounded by Nickleback and Fergie or whatever? If you're gonna have to be exposed to music randomly, I would rather it be our music" - Patrick Carney
