Michael Bernard Fitzgerald - Follow

michael

Over the past 5 or so years Michael Bernard Fitzgerald (MBF) has been steadily growing his fan base across the country. After several full length releases and a couple EPs MBF could be now be considered a force to be reckoned within the Canadian music industry. He recently put on a show at Calgary's Jack Singer Concert Hall which featured over 250 musicians, artists and dancers. These large spectacles, which are put on a couple times a year have been a staple of MBF's formula for some time now. It is nice to see an artist really putting some effort into their craft and creating something that is not usually done.

MBF is set to release a new full length on April 24th entitled Yes. The first single has just been released and it is entitled Follow. The song sticks exactly to what one would expect from Fitzgerald - If you have listened to more than one MBF record you will know what I mean.

Current Swell - Long Time Ago

Josie3med
Current Swell is no stranger to the Canadian music scene. This is a band who has refined their sound over the past 6 years and through their 4 studio releases. They have toured throughout Canada, the USA and Australia earning their stripes along the way. Now they are back with a new album entitled Long Time Ago which was released on October 25th. In my opinion this is their best work yet. Throughout all of their releases they have experimented and reinvented themselves, some of which I have enjoyed... and some that I have not. Long Time Ago could be considered a more simple album by many. However, I think Current Swell has come into their own and that growth is projected in every note of the album. Their last 3 releases at times came off as brash to me, while this album seems to have been thought out meticulously. If you want to check out the whole album you can head over to CBC Radio 3 or to the Current Swell Website.

Leeroy Stagger - On Tour

music-otr-leeroy-stagger-600x305

Raised in rural British Colombia by his grand-parents, Leeroy Stagger was surrounded by country music. He got involved with a couple bands early on sticking to punk music until he evolved back to his roots where he developed his unique brand of alternative-country. His 7 releases have rightfully earned him a national following in Canada, his latest Little Victories coming in October 2010. Currently, Leeroy Stagger is on a tour throughout Western Canada so you should go catch a show when he's in your town.
