Current Swell - Long Time Ago

Josie3med
Current Swell is no stranger to the Canadian music scene. This is a band who has refined their sound over the past 6 years and through their 4 studio releases. They have toured throughout Canada, the USA and Australia earning their stripes along the way. Now they are back with a new album entitled Long Time Ago which was released on October 25th. In my opinion this is their best work yet. Throughout all of their releases they have experimented and reinvented themselves, some of which I have enjoyed... and some that I have not. Long Time Ago could be considered a more simple album by many. However, I think Current Swell has come into their own and that growth is projected in every note of the album. Their last 3 releases at times came off as brash to me, while this album seems to have been thought out meticulously. If you want to check out the whole album you can head over to CBC Radio 3 or to the Current Swell Website.

Phantogram - Don't Move

phantogram chalkboard

For those that don't already know:

Phantogram is an electronic-rock duo from the state of New York which consists of guitarist Josh Carter and keyboardist Sarah Barthel. They released their first full length entitled Eyelid Movies on February 9, 2010 and although the record was not full of great songs I thought it definitely showed that the band had some major potential.

Now to the new stuff:

The band is set to release a new mini-album on November 1st entitled Nightlife. The single has been released and it is a feel good electro-pop tune that might have you tapping your foot too.

Track listing:
1. 16 Years
2. Don’t Move
3. Turning Into Stone
4. Make a Fist
5. Nightlife
6 A Dark Tunnel

Childish Gambino - "Camp"

childish-gamino-camp-album-review

We don't post a lot of rap/hip-hop on Blue Sloth but I feel obligated to introduce you to Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover. He is jack of all trades, musician, actor from the hilarious TV show Community, Emmy winning writer for the series 30 Rock and stand-up comedian. He has multiple EP's and mixtapes but he is ready to release his first official LP called Camp on November 15th via Glassnote Records. Below is some pictures from the Life + Times series on the making of Camp and the first two tracks from the album, "Bonfire" and "All The Shine". Check it out.
