Samantha Savage Smith - Tough Cookie
Spencer and I will be taking a writing hiatus for the week. We are going to Las Vegas and don't plan on being conscious enough to write even two words.
And with that I will leave you with the Calgary based Samantha Savage Smith. Check out her Bandcamp Page to stream her most recent album Tough Cookie. It's truly some great stuff.
Have a good week everyone.

Bon Iver 4AD/Jagjaguwar Session
Since the hype of the Grammy's and Bon Iver's enviable win of "best new artist" my passion for Bon Iver and Justin Vernon has faltered slightly. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2011 Bon Iver, Bon Iver release however I just never felt the same way about the album as I did about the debut For Emma, Forever Ago. But then, I saw today's release of the 4AD/Jagjaguwar session and my feelings have change as it exactly what I have been waiting for. The session that features Justin Vernon and Sean Carey of Bon Iver playing with nothing more then two pianos and their voices "Hinnom, TX", "Wash" and "Beth/Rest" from Bon Iver, Bon Iver. As well as "Babys" from the Blood Bank EP and a cover of Bonnie Raitt's "Can't Make You Love Me". Enjoy!

Lightning Dust - "Never Again"
I first heard the Vancouver indie duo Lightning Dust on the Spring 2009 sampler from Jagjaguwar Records. These two, who are also members of Black Mountain had me instantly hooked with their sophomore LP Infinite Light and especially the track "I Knew". At the moment there is no word to a follow up to Infinite Light, however they did release a track titled "Never Again" from a split 7" with Hard Drugs. "Never Again" is an epic and emotional triumph from Lightning Dust, check it out below and go to Story Board Label to purchase the 7" either digitally or on vinyl.
Here's "I Knew" for your listening enjoyment as well.
