Just a little update of the concerts coming to Calgary in next couple months, the city is really stepping up it's game and there are some great artists coming through. Take a look a whose coming by and check out just a fraction of what these artists/bands have to offer.

So, who is Polaris? And what is the arguably, most celebrated Canadian music award all about?
For starters, here is their mission statement:
A not-for-profit organization that honours, celebrates and rewards creativity and diversity in Canadian recorded music. Polaris recognizes and markets albums of the highest artistic integrity, without regard to musical genre, professional affiliation, or sales history. it is is adjudicated by selected music journalists, broadcasters and bloggers.
Every year polaris will choose a 40-title long list and later, a 10-title short list. The judges choose their favorite album based upon 'their own tastes and determinations."

Now that you have some background. Here is this year's short list in no specific order (which was announced back on July 6th) and a select track from each album! The Gala and selection will happen the evening of September 19th.

Well that's the short-list for this year and it is packed with some great bands and great music. Canadian musician's sure are putting out some amazing records and songs. At Blue Sloth we take pride in supporting up and coming Canadian bands and Hey Rosetta! is definitely one of them. They released their debut album Into Your Lungs in the summer of 2008 to great reception, including winning XM Radio Verge Music Awards: Album of The Year. They are back with a new album entitled Seeds with the fist single released today called "Welcome". They are going on a Canada wide tour with dates in Alberta including March 3rd in Calgary at The Legion, tickets are available through Sloth Records in downtown Calgary. Anyway, have listen to "Welcome" from the new album as well as some of their great tracks from Into Your Lungs.
