Frightened Rabbit - State Hospital

Frightened-Rabbit-State-Hospital

Frightened Rabbit are back with the first single from their follow up to The Winter Of Mixed Drinks, as well as EP titled State Hospital leading into the LP. The first single is also called "State Hospital" and the video is posted below featuring dark and emotional content, which is what FR does best.

Here is what the gentlemen from Frightened Rabbit have to say about State Hospital and the upcoming album:

"The fruits of our labour are nearing your ears. That is to say, we're releasing our tidy wee EP 'State Hospital' very soon and wanted to let you know a few things about it. It contains five songs. The title track is the first snippet from our next album, but the rest of the tracks are unique to this release, even though they were all contenders for the full-length at one point or another. I suppose certain songs just don't fit in to an album, but we thought these four still deserved to be given more than simply 'B-side' status. Because we had been writing and demo-ing for this record for some time, we found ourselves sitting on a lot of songs at the beginning of the year. Too many really, if there is such a thing. You'll be glad to hear that we didn't even toy with the idea of a double album, probably because we weren't taking any drugs. So this seemed like the best way to show off the extras and give you a taste of things to come. So, a bit about those other 4 songs then...".

Frightened Rabbit Christmas

extralarge

A while back I posted A Frightened Rabbit's EP, featuring three new songs from my favorite Scottish band Frightened Rabbit. Today, they released more free music in the spirit of Christmas. The song is titled "Cheap Gold" and you can listen to it and download from the soundcloud embed below. Also check out a cover of a melancholy Christmas classic "Walking In The Air". Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

A Frightened Rabbit EP

Frightened-Rabbit-A-Frightened-Rabbit-EP-608x642

Scottish indie band Frightened Rabbit released an EP today and whats even better is that it is free via Grab Trax for an email address and the country your from. The EP features three tracks titled "The Work", "Fuck This Place" featuring Tracyanne Campbell of Camera Obscura, and "Scottish Winds". All three songs bring comforting and emotional feelings of love and pain, similar to their 2008 LP Midnight Organ Fight. The band seems to moving back in this direction which has made me such a devoted fan of Frightened Rabbit and my most listen to band according to Last.fm. And as you wait for the EP to download you can listen to "Fuck This Place" below and stayed tuned for more information on new music as the band's twitter page tells me, is in the works.

Frightened Rabbit Live @ Rockness

I recently came across the footage of one of my favorite bands, Scotland's Frightened Rabbit playing live at Rockness Music Festival. I fell in love with this band after their album Midnight Organ Fight which is a must have and more recently, their 2010 effort Winter of Mixed Drinks. So if you haven't given these guys a listen I suggest you do starting with the their Rockness performance of "Swim Till You Can't See Land" and what appears to be a new song "Scottish Wind".
